Course overview
This course provides students with an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a fire and emergency warden in accordance with legal requirements, as well as factors involved in the safe evacuation of a workplace or site in an emergency.
Course structure
The course is conducted in a classroom environment and is theory based. Students are assessed continuously during the course.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of evacuation requirements for a particular workplace or site.
- Explain the duties of a Fire and Emergency Warden.

None.
Assessment process
A written assessment is completed.
Certification
A Fire and Emergency Warden in the Workplace Certificate will be issued on successful completion of this course.
Revalidation/Refresher
To maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher training occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this may vary. Current Wood Training recommendation is every two years.
Items to bring
- Photo ID.
- Comfortable clothing suitable for classroom.
- Covered-in footwear.
- A copy of your site’s emergency evacuation scheme.
Eligibility
Students eligible to study with Wood Training are:
- Permanent Residents,
- Australian Citizens, or
- Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by their employer.
