Course overview
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to don and use a Personal Evacuation System (PES) in both a dry and wet descent simulated environment.
Course structure
The course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions. Students are assessed continuously during the course.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the components, purpose, and operation of a Personal Evacuation System (PES)
- Demonstrate safe use of a PES from an offshore platform or in a simulated environment.
Course prerequisites
None.
Assessment process
Theory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place when student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks required. The assessment will involve the donning and use of a PES unit in a dry and wet descent.
Certification
A Personal Evacuation Systems certificate will be issued on successful completion of this course.
Revalidation/Refresher
To maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher training occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this may vary. Current manufacturer recommendation is annually.
Items to bring
- Photo ID.
- Comfortable clothing for theory sessions.
- Covered-in footwear.
- Swimming attire and towel.
Eligibility
Students eligible to study with Wood Training are:
- Permanent Residents,
- Australian Citizens, or
- Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by their employer.
