DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThis course provides students who are required to be permit holders\nwith the knowledge and skills to correctly complete and/or receive\npermits in the workplace using the CPTW system.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nThe course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions.\nStudents are assessed continuously during the course.\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course, students will be able to:\n\n 	* Explain the types of work permits, the roles of those involved in\nthe work permit system, and the requirements for receiving a work\npermit.\n 	* Explain the preparatory requirements when applying for a work\npermit.\n 	* Accept a work permit and undertake work under a permit.\n 	* Describe and carry out the controls and actions to be taken at the\nend of a work period or upon the completion of work.\n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\nCompetency in hazard management is required in order to undertake\ntraining to the common permit to work system. \n\nThis can be confirmed by the student holding either:\n\n 	* 17602 Apply hazard identification and risk assessment procedures\nin the workplace; or\n 	* 19522 Undertake job safety analysis; or\n 	* 30265 Apply health and safety risk assessment to a job role; or\n 	* Workplace Safety Plus; or\n 	* Another recognised competency in hazard management (this may not\nbe to a unit standard).\n\nIf it has been some time since formal hazard management training was\ncompleted we recommend students refamiliarise themselves with those\nskills as JSA completion forms part of this course.\n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nTheory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place\nwhen student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks\nrequired.  The practical consists of a permit compilation and\ncompletion with a final competency assessment.  Delivered following\nthe Common Permit to Work User Group Guidelines.\n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nA Common Permit to Work certificate will be issued on successful\ncompletion of the assessment and the simulated practical assessment\nincluding two completed CPTW permits signed off by the assessor on the\nday of training.\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly. Current CPTW system requirements are every\nthree years.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Appropriate streetwear can be worn.\n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
