DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThis course provides students with the basic knowledge and skills\nrequired to work at height.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nThe course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions.\nStudents are assessed continuously during the course.\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course students will be able to:\n\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of the hazards associated with wearing a\nsafety harness and associated equipment.\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of safety harnesses and associated systems\nand equipment.\n 	* Check and fit a safety harness system.\n 	* Use a safety harness system where a fall hazard exists at height.\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of the rescue plan to be implemented in the\nevent of a fall.\n 	* Identify the common types of height safety equipment employed on\nheight work in the workplace.\n 	* Identify suitable height work equipment.\n 	* Identify suitable anchor points for fall and arrest systems.\n 	* Employ height safety equipment in a workplace environment.\n 	* Plan rescue techniques and emergency procedures for working at\nheight in the workplace.\n\n \n\nOPTIONAL UNIT AVAILABLE ONLINE\n\n 	* Explain the legislative requirements associated with working at\nheights and the systems suitable for working at heights\n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\nNone.\n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS \n\nTheory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place\nwhen student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks\nrequired.  The practical consists of a given scenario at height and\nrequires the completion of hazard identification, pre-use safety\ninspections, identification and selection of all necessary equipment.\n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nA Heights Safety Certificate will be issued on successful\ncompletion of this course.\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in, this\nmay vary.  Current Wood Training recommendation is every two years.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Comfortable clothing suitable for classroom.\n 	* Covered-in footwear.\n\n \n\nHEALTH\n\nMust be physically capable of climbing at height.\n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
