DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThis course provides students with the skills to be able to\ncompetently carry out rescues in confined spaces.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nThe course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions.\nStudents are assessed continuously during the course.\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course students will be able to:\n\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of the requirements for safe working\npractices in confined spaces.\n 	* Select and operate equipment for rescues from confined spaces.\n 	* Carry out specialised rescues in confined spaces.\n 	* Recommission confined space equipment and complete reports. \n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\n 	* 3272 Wear and operate breathing apparatus\n 	* Evidence of annual signoff against Section 2.4 of AS/NZS 1715:2009\n(refer page 23 of the Wood Training catalogue). We can provide a\ndeclaration document - please contact us.\n 	* A current first aid certificate consisting of US 6402 and US 6401\nis required.\n 	* 23229 Use safety harness system when working at height (or\nequivalent).\n 	* 18426 Demonstrate knowledge of hazards associated with confined\nspaces, and 17599 Plan a confined space (or equivalent).\n 	* 25510 Operate an atmospheric testing device to determine a\nsuitable atmosphere exists to work safely or 3058 Demonstrate\nknowledge of gas testing, and perform gas tests in an energy and\nchemical plant (or equivalent).\n 	* Participants are required to sign a declaration that they are in\ngood health (have no medical, physical or psychological conditions\nthat would affect their ability to succeed in this training) OR\nprovide a current (less than six months old) medical certificate. We\nmust receive this document NO LATER THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE COURSE\nCOMMENCEMENT. If not received within this timeframe you may be\ndeclined entry to the course. This decision will be taken on a case by\ncase basis.\n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nTheory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place\nwhen student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks\nrequired.  The practical consists of at least two scenarios involving\nlocating and rescuing a casualty from a confined space and provision\nof first aid to prevent further injury/trauma. \n\n \n\nCOURSE DURATION\n2 Days.\n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nA Confined Space Rescue certificate will be issued on successful\ncompletion of this course.\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this\nmay vary. Current Wood Training recommendation is every two years.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Comfortable clothing suitable for wearing under overalls.\n 	* Socks.\n 	* Covered in footwear.\n 	* Water bottle.\n 	* Change of clothes and towel for available shower.\n\n \n\nHEALTH  \n\nA current MEDICAL is MANDATORY prior to course commencement and\nability to work in confined spaces.\n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
