DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThis course provides students with the skills and knowledge of gas\ntesting in the energy and chemical industry, and the ability to\nidentify appropriate testing equipment, perform gas tests and\ninterpret and respond to the results. \n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nThe course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions.\nStudents are assessed continuously during the course.\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course students will be able to:\n\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of gas testing and related hazards in the\nenergy and chemical industry.\n 	* Perform gas tests, and interpret and respond to gas test results,\nin an energy and chemical plant.\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of atmospheric testing in potentially\nhazardous environments.\n 	* Conduct atmospheric tests.\n 	* Interpret and respond to atmospheric testing results.\n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\nNone.\n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nTheory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place\nwhen student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks\nrequired.  The practical consists of three gas tests ensuring pre\nstart checks are carried out and test environment monitored.\n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nA Gas Testing certificate will be issued on successful completion of\nall assessment requirements.\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this\nmay vary. Current Wood Training recommendation is every two years.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Comfortable clothing suitable for classroom.\n 	* Covered-in footwear.\n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
