DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThis course allows experienced MEWP operators to update their current\nknowledge and demonstrate current competency in assessment of hazards\nand MEWP operations.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nA combination of theoretical and practical assessment,\ndiscussions/recapping on knowledge already attained.\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course, students will be able to:\n\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of the PCBU  and worker duties under the\nHealth and Safety at Work Act 2015.\n 	* Identify types of MEWPs, their suitability for purpose; and safety\nfeatures. \n 	* Describe key safety features of a MEWP and identify safe working\nloads.\n 	* Identify hazards, risks and controls to prevent harm/damage. \n 	* Prepare MEWP for use, carry out operations in a workplace\nenvironment, report faults, and shut down an MEWP. \n\n \n\nMACHINERY\n\nAt the time of booking please advise the machinery types to be\nrefreshed. \n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\nStudent must already hold US 23966 and the relevant practical unit\nstandard/s for the machinery they are refreshing or a documented\nequivalent that is deemed acceptable by  Wood Training.  The student\nmust also have experience operating the MEWP before they can undertake\nthis course. \n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nTheory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place\nwhen student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks\nrequired. Assessment involves operating an MEWP in a controlled\nenvironment. \n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nUpon successful completion of this course students will be issued with\na certificate.\n\n \n\nREFRESHER\n\nUnder the Best Guidelines for Mobile Elevating Work Platforms –\nSection 6, 6.3, it is stated refresher training should not exceed\nthree years.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Correct PPE must be worn including steel-capped safety boots.\n 	* Comfortable clothing suitable for classroom situation.\n\nAll PPE will be supplied for practical activity taking place at\nManadon Street but students must supply their own safety boots.   \n                                             \n   \n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
