DESCRIPTION:_PLEASE BE AWARE, A FUEL SURCHARGE MAY APPLY._\n\nCOURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThis course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary\nto fulfill the role of Emergency Response Team Member and to be able\nto demonstrate competence in that role.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nThe course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions.\nStudents are assessed continuously during the course.\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course, students will be able to:\n\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of the fire classes and fire suppression\ntechniques.\n 	* Select and use hand extinguisher and fixed hose reels to suppress\nthe fire.\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of the basic principles of the chemistry of\ncombustion and the basic principles of the physics of fire. \n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of BA and its effects on the physiology of\nthe human body\n 	* Recommission, test and wear a BA in simulated conditions.\n 	* Manage a BA for safe use and survivability.\n 	* Shut down and recommission a BA. \n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\n Participants are required to sign a declaration that they are in\ngood health (have no medical, physical or psychological conditions\nthat would affect their ability to succeed in this training) OR\nprovide a current (less than six months old) medical certificate.\n\nWe must receive this document NO LATER THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE COURSE\nCOMMENCEMENT.  If not received within this timeframe you may be\ndeclined entry to the course. This decision will be taken on a case by\ncase basis.    \n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nTheory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place\nwhen the student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks\nrequired.  The assessment will involve team activity. \n\n \n\nDURATION\n\n4 Days.\n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nAn Emergency Response Team Member (Fire) certificate will be issued on\nsuccessful completion of this course.\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly.  Depending on the industry you work in\nthis may vary.  Current Training recommendation is every two years by\nattending a one day refresher.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Comfortable clothing suitable for wearing under Fire Fighting\nattire.\n 	* Socks.\n 	* Covered in footwear.\n 	* Water bottle.\n 	* Change of clothes and towel for available shower.\n\n \n\nHEALTH  \n\nA current MEDICAL is MANDATORY prior to course commencement.\n\n_Research shows that you are more susceptible to heat distress\ndisorders if you consume alcohol within 24 hours of training with live\nfire. We recommend you do not consume alcohol 24 hours before training\nnor over the days of training._\n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
