DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThis course enables students to obtain knowledge of the safe operation\nof a forklift and the legal obligations pertaining to that plant in a\nplace of work. Skills in the completion of pre-operational checks\nprior to operations, parking and shutting down a forklift will be\ntaught.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nA combination of theoretical and practical training and assessment. \n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course, students will be able to:\n\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of the safe operation of a forklift.\n 	* Perform a preoperational inspection and start up procedure for a\nforklift.\n 	* Demonstrate practical forklift skills.\n 	* Park and shut down a forklift.\n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\nSome forklift operator experience is essential. \n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nTheory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place\nwhen student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks\nrequired. Assessment involves operating a Forklift without a load and\nstacking and de-stacking a load.\n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nForklift Operator Certification (WorkSafe NZ, formerly OSH) can be\nawarded to students.  Students who have met all unit standard\nrequirements can be awarded US10851.  \n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nCertification refresher every three years as per the Approved Code of\nPractice for Training Operators and Instructors of Powered Industrial\nLift Tucks (Forklifts), and Competenz ITO requirements.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Correct PPE must be worn including steel-capped safety boots.\n 	* Comfortable clothing with covered footwear suitable for classroom\nsituation.\n\nAll PPE will be supplied for practical activity taking place\nat Manadon Street but students must supply their own safety\nboots.                                                    \n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
