DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThe course enables students through knowledge and skills to assess\ntheir workplace for hazards and establish controls  prior to carrying\nout operations in their workplace environment; and be able to identify\nand report any faults, and to shut down the MEWP after use.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nThe course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions.\nStudents are assessed continuously during the course. \n\n \n\nOTHER MACHINERY OPTIONS \n\n23961 L3 C4 V4 (Truck Mounted)\n\n23963 L3 C4 V4 (Trailer Mounted)\n\n23964 L3 C2 V4 (Vertical Lift)\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course, students will be able to:\n\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of types of MEWPs, their suitability for\npurpose; and safety features. \n 	* Demonstrate industry requirements in relation to legislation and\nthe Best Practice Guidelines and the use of MEWPs.\n 	* Assess a worksite and prepare to use an MEWP.\n 	* Carry out operations in a workplace environment, report faults,\nand shut down an MEWP.\n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\nUnit Standard 23966 is the prerequisite for all practical machinery\nunit standards 23960-23964. The student must have a minimum of 6\nmonths operator experience on a MEWP before they can undertake this\ncourse. We recommend students have risk assessment experience.\n\nIf a student is deemed inexperienced/not safe at any time during the\ntraining, they will be turned away and no fees reimbursed.\n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nTheory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place\nwhen student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks\nrequired. Assessment involves inspecting a worksite for hazards,\nestablishing controls, conducting pre- start checks on an MEWP and\noperating an MEWP in a controlled environment.\n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nUpon successful completion of this course students will be issued with\na MEWP certificate.\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nUnder the Best Practice Guidelines for Mobile Elevating Work Platforms\n– Section 6, 6.3, it is stated that refresher training should not\nexceed three years.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Steel-capped safety boots.\n 	* Comfortable clothing suitable for classroom situation.\n\nAll PPE will be supplied for practical activity taking place at\nManadon Street but students must supply their own safety boots.  \n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
