DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThis course provides students with knowledge of basic workplace\nsafety, an understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and\nthe skills needed to then apply key principles in the workplace.  It\nwill also provide an overview on the responsibilities of people in the\nworkforce including steps to take to ensure the safety of themselves\nand others.  Given a scenario students will be able to complete a job\nsafety analysis.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nThe course is theoretical. Students are assessed continuously during\nthe course.\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course students will be able to:\n\n 	* Identify and describe legislative rights and responsibilities for\nworkplace health and safety.\n 	* Describe the systems approach to workplace health and safety.\n 	* Explain how risks and hazards are defined in the HSWA 2015.\n 	* Identify the principles of workplace safety in a given workplace\nand demonstrate safe work practices in a specific workplace.\n 	* Complete a simple job safety analysis (JSA).\n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\nStudents must be in work. \n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nTheory assessment which takes place when student is ready. This\nincludes completion of a JSA based on a scenario provided. \n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nA Workplace Safety Plus certificate will be issued on successful\ncompletion of this course.\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly.  Depending on the industry you work in\nthis may vary.  Current Wood Training recommendation is every two\nyears.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Comfortable clothing suitable for classroom.\n 	* Covered-in footwear.\n 	* You must bring to the course the information your organisation\nprovided to you that identifies the staff instructions regarding H&S\npolicies and procedures.  This information is generally provided in\nan induction procedure or similar document.\n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
