DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThis course provides students with an understanding of the legislation\nunder which they become certified handlers and their legal roles and\nobligations under that legislation, should they become handlers.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nThe course is delivered online and includes topics that you work\nthrough at your own pace before you undertake the formal assessment.\n\nAfter you contact Wood Training or book the course, we will send you a\nconfirmation email with a link to the course and a self-enrolment\nkey.  You will be prompted in the system to set up a profile with\ninformation that we need for your enrolment.\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course students will be able to:\n\n 	* Describe requirements relevant for a certified handler.\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of hazardous substances relevant to their\nrole.\n 	* Describe emergency procedures involving hazardous substances\nrelevant to their role.\n\n \n\nUNIT STANDARD PREREQUISITE\n\nUS31290 is the pre requisite for US31291. YOU WILL BE CO-ENROLLED IN\nBOTH COURSES TO ACHIEVE THE OUTCOMES REQUIRED. \n\nThis course is assessed at Level 5 of the New Zealand’s\nQualification Framework and is a written assessment.  Due to the\nlevel of complexity in this course, it is recommended that students\nhold a qualification at Level 2 as a minimum.  \n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nA Competency Requirements for Certified Handler certificate will be\nissued on successful completion of this course.\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly.  Depending on the industry you work in\nthis may vary. \n\nRequirement for the Certified Handlers Certificate to be\nrefreshed/renewed after five years. \n\n \n\nTHINGS YOU NEED \n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* A copy of current Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the products\nhandled.\n 	* Access to a computer and stable internet (see page 2 for\nspecifications).\n 	* An email address.\n\n \n\nCOST\n\nThere is a cost to apply for a Certified Handler certificate through a\nCompliance Certifier.  The process for the Certifier to review and\naward a Handler certificate will take around 30 days.\n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
