DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThis course provides students with the knowledge to be a competent\nperson in the safe handling, storage, and disposal of workplace\nhazardous substances as well as an understanding of the potential\nadverse effects these substances pose to people, property and the\nenvironment.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nUS31290 is delivered online and includes topics that you work through\nat your own pace before you undertake the formal assessment.\n\nAfter you contact Wood Training or book the course, we will send you a\nconfirmation email with a link to the course and a self-enrolment\nkey.  You will be prompted in the system to set up a profile with\ninformation that we need for your enrolment.\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course students will be able to:\n\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of classifying hazardous substances.\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of the potential adverse effects of\nhazardous substances on the body and environment, types of exposure\nmonitoring, and treatment options.\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of safe storage, tracking requirements,\nhandling, and disposal of hazardous substances.\n 	* Describe response to uncontrolled release of hazardous substances.\n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nA Hazardous Substance Competent Person certificate will be issued on\nsuccessful completion of all assessment requirements.\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly.  Depending on the industry you work in\nthis may vary.  Current Wood Training recommendation is every two\nyears. \n\n \n\nTHINGS YOU NEED \n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Access to a computer and stable internet (see page 2 for\nspecifications).\n 	* An email address.\n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
