DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nThis course provides students with knowledge of relevant crane\nregulations, hazards, controls, lifting gear, working load limits and\nlift planning.  Participants in this course will be able to prepare\nand safely sling varying loads by interpreting WLL tables/capacity\ncharts, inspecting equipment and tying knots to control a load. \n\n \n\nThis unit standard is the new starting point and pre-requisite for\nother crane standards such as 16617, 3789, 3800. \n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nA combination of theoretical and practical training in preparation for\ntwo different practical observed lifts. \n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course, students will be able to:\n\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of hazards, hazard control, and lift\nplanning.\n 	* Demonstrate knowledge of lifting gear and working load limit (WLL)\ntables; and\n 	* Prepare for, and sling regular loads safely.\n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\nThis course is intended for those currently working within the crane\nIndustry. \n\n \n\nIf a student is deemed inexperienced or not safe at any time during\nthe training, training will cease and no fees will be reimbursed. \n\n \n\nFor those experienced in the field, this pre-requisite unit may be\nwaived on the basis of an attestation that indicates the trainee IS\nABLE TO DEMONSTRATE EQUIVALENT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS THAT ARE\nEQUIVALENT TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE UNIT STANDARD 30072. See Wood\nTraining for more information.\n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nTheory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place\nwhen student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks\nrequired. Assessment involves two different assessor observed lifts. \n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nUpon successful completion of this course students will be issued with\na certificate.\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION \n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this\nmay vary. Current Wood Training recommendation is every three years.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Comfortable clothing with covered footwear suitable for classroom\nsituation. \n 	* PPE requirements for practical:\n\n             - Safety boots.\n\n             - All other PPE will be supplied.\n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
