DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nProvide students with basic first aid knowledge and skills to support\nlife in an emergency situation until qualified assistance is\navailable.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nThe course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions.\nStudents are assessed continuously during the course.\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course students will be able to:\n\n 	* Provide first aid.\n 	* Provide basic life support. \n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\nNone.\n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nPractical assessment (including verbal questioning) which takes place\nwhen the student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks\nrequired.  The assessment will involve a bleeding and shock\nsituation, one trauma and two medical conditions from a range of\nscenarios.\n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nA Practical First Aid certificate will be issued on successful\ncompletion of this course.\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly.  NZQA and the Skills Organisation identify\nthis as every two years. \n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Comfortable clothing suitable for participating in practical\nexercises.\n 	* Covered-in footwear.\n\n \n\n \n\n_M&O Pacific Limited trading as Wood Training has been granted\napproval by NZQA under Section 251 of the Education Act 1989 to\nprovide the training scheme Practical First Aid._\n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
