DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nTo develop knowledge and skills in helicopter underwater escape\ntechniques including impact preparations, egress  with and without\npush out windows or doors, to then be rescued by fitting a strop\nduring a winch. \n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nThe course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions.\nStudents are assessed continuously during the course.\n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course students will be able to:\n\n 	* Identify and describe helicopter safety and escape equipment,\ntechniques, and procedures\n 	* Demonstrate escape and emergency techniques for a helicopter in\nthe sea, for an offshore installation environment.\n\n \n\nMEDICAL REQUIREMENTS\n\nPrior to undertaking the course we must be provided with a copy of\none of the following:\n\na)    a Wood Training OPITO Medical Declaration and Screening form\n– with a sign off from a General Practitioner, OR\n\nb)   a Wood Training OPITO Medical Declaration and Screening form\naccompanied by a current company medical certificate. \n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nPractical assessments which takes place when student is ready/has\nshown that they can perform all tasks required.  \n\nAssessment involves two submerged, capsized escapes with and without\nwindows or doors followed by winching via a strop. If a student is\ndeemed not competent, the process for reassessment will be advised by\nthe instructor.\n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nA Standard HUET certificate will be awarded to students who\nsuccessfully complete the theory and practical components of the\ncourse.  \n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly.  Depending on the industry you work in\nthis may vary.  Current Wood Training recommendation is every two\nyears.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Comfortable clothing for theory sessions.\n 	* Swimming attire and towel.\n 	* Thermal top to wear under dry suit (optional).\n 	* Covered-in footwear.\n 	* Water bottle.\n\n \n\nHEALTH  \n\nA current company MEDICAL CERTIFICATE ACCOMPANIED BY A WOOD TRAINING\nMEDICAL SELF DECLARATION AND SCREENING FORM, OR GP-SIGNED WOOD\nTRAINING MEDICAL SELF DECLARATION AND SCREENING FORM is MANDATORY\nprior to course commencement. \n\n \n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n 	* Australian Citizens, or\n 	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
