DESCRIPTION:COURSE OVERVIEW\n\nTo provide students with the knowledge and skills to function\neffectively and safely as a Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) at\ninstallations in accordance with current industry standards.\n\n \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\n\nThe course is theoretical but also includes a visit to a local\nheliport for familarisation. Students are assessed continuously during\nthe course. \n\n \n\nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nAt the end of this course students on a petrochemical off-shore\ninstallation will be able to:\n\n 	* Identify helicopter operation and safety equipment and procedures.\n 	* Assess helicopter hazards and their consequences.\n 	* Use and interpret documentation and maintain reports for\nhelicopter landing operations.\n 	* Locate and explain emergency procedures and contingency plans for\nhelicopter landings.\n\n \n\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES\n\nNone.\n\n \n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nTheory assessment which takes place when the student is ready.  A\npost course on job assessment component is required to be  completed\noffshore and includes the HLO performing a range of tasks before and\nduring multiple helicopter landings. \n\n \n\nCERTIFICATION\n\nA Helicopter Landing Officer certificate will be issued on successful\ncompletion of the On Job Assignment (OJA).\n\n \n\nREVALIDATION/REFRESHER\n\nTo maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher\ntraining occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this\nmay vary. Current Wood Training recommendation is every two years.\n\n \n\nITEMS TO BRING\n\n 	* Photo ID.\n 	* Comfortable clothing for theory sessions.\n 	* Covered-in footwear.\n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nStudents eligible to study with Wood Training are:\n\n 	* Permanent Residents,\n	* Australian Citizens, or\n	* Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by\ntheir employer.\n\nProof of eligibility is required.
