Course overview
This course provides students with knowledge of the principles of risk assessment and the skills required to identify hazards, assess risks and identify control and monitoring measures for risks in a given workplace.
Course structure
The course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions. Students are assessed continuously during the course.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students will be able to:
- Describe the principles of health and safety risk assessment.
- Apply health and safety risk assessment to a job role in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry good practice.
Course prerequisites
None.
Assessment process
Theory assessment which takes place when the student is ready, and includes the completion of a Hazard identification and control form and a Job Safety Analysis.
Certification
A Health and Safety Risk Assessment certificate will be issued on successful completion of this course.
Revalidation/Refresher
To maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher training occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this may vary. Current Wood Training recommendation is every two years.
Items to bring
- Photo ID.
- Appropriate streetwear can be worn.
Eligibility
Students eligible to study with Wood Training are:
- Permanent Residents,
- Australian Citizens, or
- Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by their employer.
