Course overview
The objective of this course is for the students to refresh their current knowledge of work at heights.
Course structure
A combination of theoretical and practical assessment, discussions/recapping on knowledge already attained.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate current knowledge of key sections of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and Regulations
- Identify control measures and associated terms for height-related hazards.
- Complete a simple JSA for a given scenario.
- Develop an emergency response plan for a given scenario.
- Safely undertake a practical scenario at height.
Course prerequisites
Your assessment will be targeted at refreshing which ever unit(s) you hold e.g. US 15757/US 23229/US 17600/US 25045 or a documented equivalent that is deemed acceptable by Wood Training.
Assessment process
Theory assessment followed by practical assessment which takes place when student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks required. The practical consists of a given scenario at height.
Certification
A Working at Heights Refresher Certificate will be issued on successful completion of this course.
Revalidation/Refresher
To maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher training occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this may vary. Current Wood Training recommendation is every two years.
Items to bring
- Photo ID.
- Comfortable clothing suitable for classroom.
- Covered-in footwear.
Health
Must be physically capable of climbing at height.
Eligibility
Students eligible to study with Wood Training are:
- Permanent Residents,
- Australian Citizens, or
- Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by their employer.
