Course overview
This course provides students with a refresher on the knowledge and skills needed to perform CPR and manage common medical and trauma in emergency situations.
Course structure
The course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions. Students are assessed continuously during the course.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Perform two rounds of CPR for an adult/child and an infant.
- Provide first aid relevant to two given scenarios
Course prerequisites
A current New Zealand First Aid Certificate (6400, 6401, 6402) or a First Aid Refresher certificate covering the same units that are no older than two years and three months or a documented equivalent that is deemed acceptable by Wood Training.
Assessment process
Short quizzes followed by practical assessment which takes place when the student is ready/has shown that they can perform all tasks required.
The assessment will involve first aid scenario in adult and infant CPR and practical scenarios relevant to the first aid certificate held.
Certification
A New Zealand First Aid Revalidation Certificate will be issued on successful completion of this course. 6400 - 6402: New Zealand First Aid Revalidation Certificate.
Revalidation/Refresher
To maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher training occurs regularly. NZQA and Toitu te Waiora identify this as every two years.

- Photo ID.
- Appropriate Streetwear can be worn.
Eligibility
Students eligible to study with Wood Training are:
- Permanent Residents,
- Australian Citizens, or
- Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by their employer.
