Course overview
This course is designed to meet the requirements of basic offshore safety induction and emergency training for the oil and gas industry personnel. The learning outcomes of the Digital Delivery of BOSIET (with EBS) are identical to those contained in the BOSIET (with EBS) Standard. In order for learners to better prepare for, and progress to the practical session at the training centre, the online component includes a range of multi media and includes short safety orientated videos.
Course structure
The theory component of the course is undertaken online by the student, prior to attendance at the training centre to undertake formal theory assessment and practical demonstration. Students are assessed continuously during the course.
Course prerequisites
The digital learning must be completed in full before students attend the practical day. (Practical must be undertaken within 90 days of completing all online elements.)
Medical requirement
Prior to undertaking the course we must be provided with a copy of one of the following:
a) a Wood Training OPITO Medical Declaration and Screening form – with a sign off from a General Practitioner, OR
b) a Wood Training OPITO Medical Declaration and Screening form – with a current OGUK medical (for going offshore), OR
c) a Wood Training OPITO Medical Declaration and Screening form - with an approved equivalent of an offshore medical (organisation specific).
Certification
An OPITO approved BOSIET Digital Delivery certificate will be awarded to students who successfully complete all course components. Results will be submitted to OPITO.
Revalidation/Refresher
Valid for 4 years. Must be renewed prior to expiry date by attending a FOET course otherwise a full BOSIET is required.
Items to bring
- Photo ID.
- Comfortable clothing for theory sessions.
- Swimming attire, towel, thermal top for under dry suit (optional).
- Covered-in footwear. Safety boots required to enter Port Taranaki for TEMPSC activity.
- Safety boots and a spare pair of socks.
- Water bottle.
Health
A current Medical Certificate accompanied by a Wood Training Medical Self Declaration and Screening form, OR GP-signed Wood Training Medical Self Declaration and Screening form is MANDATORY prior to course commencement. All students participating in this course which has physically demanding and potentially stressful elements must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully.
Eligibility
Students eligible to study with Wood Training are:
- Permanent Residents,
- Australian Citizens, or
- Holders of work-visas who are required to undertake training by their employer.
